Gitika Talukdar – 8th Batch, India
Gitika got the opportunity to cover the FIFA World Cups Qatar 2022 as a sports journalist and photographer for the third time. Earlier she covered the Men’s FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia and the Women’s FIFA World Cup 2019 in France. She is an accredited media personal by FIFA and International Olympics Committee. During her stay in Qatar, as a media person, the experience was quite different than the others. Because Doha, Qatar is not a very big country, she had a chance to cover 34 matches from the pitch position compared to the 20 matches she covered earlier. She was the only photo journalist from India who got the opportunity to the maximum matches on the priority group list because of her credentials and long contribution to sports media.
As she moved on to talk about the DTM program, she said. “Learning from DTM is always a plus point. Not only academic modules but learning with many different colleagues from different countries gave opportunities to learn working together and integrated.” In international events, she said that they are not only representing themselves but also representing their behaviors and team working capacity. “Therefore, the teamwork learnings during DTM helped her a lot with International colleagues and media officers.” She said with satisfaction of the DTM program.
“As a journalist, it’s always nice to cover all the matches. This time I was very happy that I have covered all the matches played by the Republic of Korea. And I am glad to be part of the historical matches where the Republic of Korea enters the Semi-Finals. I covered all the matches from the pitch positions and took pictures of Son Heung-min. I met a few Korean Journalists and Photographers during the matches and they were very happy to know that I have studied at Seoul National University and I’m part of the wonderful DTM Program.”
